Honeywell Introduces New EQUIP™ Series IP Network Solutions
Innovative Features Capitalise on Internet Protocol Technolog
RUNCORN, UK, June 05, 2008 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today announced the launch
of its new EQUIP™ Series, a family of IP network products composed of cameras,
encoders, network video recorders and digital video recorders. With an open
architecture and single Application Program Interface (API), Honeywell’s line of
EQUIP Series products works consistently across IP-based systems.
The EQUIP Series of IP cameras are available in PTZ, mini-dome or box style.
These IP-ready cameras transmit high quality images over longer distances and
are capable of delivering video at a rate of 25 frames per second at 4CIF for
real-time, high-resolution video recording. MPEG-4 compression for all video
streams provides the cameras with a method for compressing video that is more
efficient than MJPEG, giving users better image quality and sharpness and faster
video transmission using smaller network bandwidth. A robust camera sabotage
feature detects a change in the field of view or focus, and instantly notifies
the operator if a camera has been deliberately blinded or otherwise vandalised.
With advanced compression and digital functionality, users can stream and
view live or recorded images over a network or the Internet. The cameras are
supported by a Web browser and a variety of video management systems including
Honeywell’s next generation video management system. And for concentrated
security systems requiring hybrid functionality, EQUIP cameras can be installed
on Honeywell’s Fusion III DVR.
“Because they form common ground between the security department and the IT
department, our EQUIP Series cameras provide system flexibility and
scalability,” said Mark Openshaw, product manager, Honeywell. “Our mini-dome and
box cameras support Power over Ethernet (PoE). And because IP solutions aren’t
confined to a predetermined number of camera inputs on a DVR, installations are
easily upgraded to an unlimited number of cameras. That’s what we call complete
flexibility.”
The EQUIP Series is designed for applications where object detection is
required in general or low light conditions and object recognition is an
integral part of the site’s security and business operation. These versatile
cameras provide an ideal video surveillance solution for indoor and outdoor
applications in transportation, retail, educational, and other commercial
markets.
