Honeywell Unveils Galaxy Dimension, an Integrated Intrusion and Access Control Solution with Audio Verification

Elegant Touch-Screen Interface Simplifies Operation for Installers and End Users

NEWHOUSE, SCOTLAND, 15 April 2008 - Honeywell (NYSE:HON) today unveiled the Galaxy Dimension, a security system that combines an intruder alarm with advanced access control and audio verification capabilities in a simple, reliable solution.

Galaxy Dimension has been designed with both installers and end users in mind, incorporating numerous features that enable quick and easy system installation and programming, ease of use and reduced maintenance time. With its enhanced external control protocol, Galaxy Dimension can also interface easily with other building systems to form part of a fully integrated building management solution. The flexible and scalable design of the Galaxy Dimension provides around-the-clock security for businesses – even for large and complex installations – and is particularly suited to the retail, industrial, local authority and financial sectors.

At the centre of the Galaxy Dimension is TouchCenter, a graphical keypad featuring an intuitive smart menu and a large colour touch-screen with crystal clear graphics. A slot for smart memory allows the installer to customise each TouchCenter with its own business graphics and contact information, enabling end users to have the required information at their fingertips.

Innovative access control functionality is combined with advanced intruder features to provide one integrated system that simplifies installation, saving installers’ precious time so that the system can be up and running within minutes of installation. End-users benefit from exceptionally high levels of security, with maximum convenience in one, simple to operate, system.

"Galaxy Dimension is based on 50 years’ of experience in the security industry, and utilises the very latest technology, resulting in an integrated solution that responds to market needs," said Yves Pichon, marketing leader EMEA, Honeywell Security and Custom Electronics. "With this solution we are offering a compelling value proposition that enables you to manage and protect your people and business assets in an integrated manner, and on a wide scale.”

Galaxy Dimension incorporates several key features. For example, the system’s intelligent “listening-in” or audio verification facility enables quick analysis of an alarm source and cause, reducing false alarms and boosting reliability. In addition, thanks to an array of in-built communications peripherals, Galaxy Dimension can use existing communication paths such as PSTN, ISDN or Ethernet to perform dual alarm signalling functions.

Designed with installers in mind
Galaxy Dimension installation and retro-fitting, for example, are made quick and easy. The system provides backward compatibility with the Galaxy range, where a legacy printed circuit board (PCB) can be easily replaced by a Galaxy Dimension PCB. Existing cables can be used throughout the system, and the panel can communicate with the peripherals using CAT5 data cable.

Ongoing maintenance costs are also reduced thanks to the system’s secure remote management tool, which allows installers to receive automatic diagnosis and maintenance reports remotely, reducing the need for time-consuming site visits. Meanwhile, features such as audio verification and sequential verification help to reduce the number of false alarms by confirming through the central monitoring station if an intrusion has actually taken place.
